Journey 2 – San Manuel AZ – Old Scottsdale AZ – 203k’s

Old Scottsdale Arizona

One of our favorite places for a long weekend, Old Scottsdale Town Arizona. Teamed with Wild West history, Art Galleries and Modern Art scattered around a beautifully landscaped area. Home of the great Rusty Spur Saloon Bar and Live music venue

This is our last alone adult time before traveling with the kids 24/7 365 and my birthday so we wanted to make the most of it. Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn was perfect, almost dead centre to the Old Town district we could walk everywhere we needed to.

Starting with our favorite Starbucks and realizing the heat of AZ in July would reach in the 105F’s we enjoyed just wandering around the old streets taking in the stunning galleries of Indian art and culture. Another favorite past time of ours is Geocaching. If you have not heard of this then take a look at the link, especially if you have kids. It is now classed as a sport and involves using an App on your mobile. This app will let you know where hidden treasures are in your area. Click on the one nearest to you and off you go to find it using the clues. Register your find, get a smiley face and maybe a trinket hidden inside for the kids. It usually involves areas of interest and you can usually gain an insight into the area from the location description. Hour of fun.

At night I enjoyed agreeing to one of my Wife’s favorite foods, Sushi at Ra and afterwards living it up in the Rusty Spur Saloon bar listening to a live Country Music Band play a mixture of old and new tunes…….try it out, even includes the saloon bar swinging doors.

For a few bucks the band will play anything you want, and boy do they know a lot of tunes. One tune brought a smile to our faces.  Although we loved our corporate jobs and would not have had it any other way, we have just quit a huge collective salary to have this very special time as a family. The song they were playing was called…”take this job and shove it”

Check out the gallery……….
